Job Description

My client, a well know retailer is looking for Solution Designers. Responsible for producing the technical design for major IT solutions, and for ensuring they are aligned with the overall IT Strategic Roadmap and meet the business needs, and then to resolve any technical design issues that may arise during the whole development life cycle. Responsibilities: * Produce technical designs, that are capable of being delivered within acceptable financial targets and timeframes, for all major IT solutions required in a business area and that development teams are able use to build fit-for-purpose solutions. * Work closely with the Business Systems Manager to understand the future business plans and with the Architecture Team to ensure that the technical designs for new solutions are true to the architecture principals and meet the business needs. * In conjunction with the Architecture team, quickly resolve any technical design issues that may arise during the development life cycle, in a way that remains true to the original design principals, so that development progress is not delayed. * Provide high-level time and cost estimates for the delivery of the technical elements of a project so that informed decisions can be made about the best way to deliver the required change. * Contribute to Post implementation reviews to incorporate learnings into future work. * Contribute to systems strategy to ensure it is in line with the corporate business plan for a main business division (one to three year horizon). * Maintain close contact with development teams throughout the project development and implementation life cycle to identify potential technical issues early and advise solutions as necessary. Sucessful candidates will have: Strong hands on in Unix and Windows (Architecture) In-depth exp of tech solutions design in the Warehouse/Logistics/Retail space Good application and tech architecture background in Warehouse systems, ideally RedPrairie DLX/Despatcher implementations Good tech knowledge of Software AG\'s Webmethods product and general SOA arch principles Strong ex with Warehouse and Merchandising systems etc. integration, with track record of major project deliveries (Oracle RETEK RMS/RIB knowledge if possible Solid knowledge of Scripting and web technologies.
